Physiological and Enzymatic Evaluation of Selected Genotypes of Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni

The Germplasm Bank of Stevia rebaudiana segregants the University Córdoba is a strategy for use genetic variability and efficient crop yield. There are genotypes with important characteristics such as: high tolerance to salt stress climatic change (high CO2 in Earth surface), late flowering, erect architecture, contents steviol glycosides. However, there lack in-depth studies morphophysiological biochemical indicators as gas exchange, chlorophyll fluorescence, chloroplast pigments, antioxidant systems, which allow us develop early selection tools elite genotypes. (L020, Morita II, L102) were found have efficiency water use, excellent biomass production, more robust system than (L057 L082). L020 genotype presented highest content stevioside rebaudioside A, followed by II genotype. We close correlation between electron transport rate mechanisms that increase photosystem complexes. In this sense, non-photochemical cooling modulated release heat leaves fact confirmed greater activity xanthine pool protect photochemical complexes S. rebaudiana.
